First graders at Jonathan elementary are published authors!!!
First grade teacher Pam Wood says their current Wonders curriculum unit is on animals, and the science part of that is to know how their chosen animal grows and develops. By combining that science content with reading and writing, the students developed their very own books.
The books were complete with a title page, table of contents, one page chapters with stories on topics such as habitat, diet, offspring, and survival skills, and a meet the author page.
The students worked in pairs in putting their books together. They got to "show off" their work during a showcase this week.
